2024 WEDDING TRENDS TO START PLANNING FOR NOW
While you can count on your wedding photography style to bring the timelessness to your big day, it can be fun to also celebrate saying ‘I do’ with some of the season’s biggest trends.
From boho weddings to vintage themes, we’ve seen so many standout trends in weddings over the past few years. So if you’re planning a wedding in 2024, here are some of the exciting projected trends you can keep in mind now as you plan ahead for the best day of your life:
1 - ECO-FRIENDLY WEDDINGS
There’s no doubt about it - sustainable weddings are where it’s at. From eco-friendly vendors, locally sourced and organic food, using reusable decor or incorporating as many nature-inspired elements as possible, this trend speaks to the environmentally conscious part in all of us as we all do our bit to lower our wedding’s eco footprint.
2 - MICRO WEDDINGS
This trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon, and I have to say, I’m not mad about it. Nothing beats an intimate, smaller-scale celebration for not only your budget, but the absolute warmth, closeness and heartfelt vibe that just oozes from everyone there (and beautifully translates into your photos too). When it’s just you, your love and a handpicked collection of your nearest and dearest, the intimate feels also mean you’re not left wondering at the end of the night if you remembered to thank or take a picture with everyone either.
3 - PERSONALISED EXPERIENCES
For me, your story is everything, and creatively telling your personal story in photos is a no brainer. But how about weaving your personality into every inch of your wedding? We’re starting to see more and more couples make their big day a complete reflection of their unique personalities, making their wedding truly special and one-of-a-kind. From stationary, to food and location, and even interactive elements that have every guest feeling like they’ve just walked into your own personal love bubble, personalising every part of the experience is a sure fire way to make the day feel truly like you.
4 - BOLD COLOURS AND STATEMENT DECOR
Come 2024, traditional colours are OUT, and bold, vibrant colour palettes are IN, so it’s time to make a statement. Colour can also be a great way to not only infuse your personality into your big day, but create wedding photos that truly stand out.
5 - TECH TRENDS
While we’ve seen lots of weddings adopt live streaming over the past few years with travel restrictions, it appears to only be the beginning of how tech trends are starting to play out at weddings. From state of the art photo booth set ups to virtual reality experiences, there are so many up and coming ways to create a truly memorable experience for every one of your guests.
6 - UNEXPECTED VENUES
Whilst we are spoiled for choice with iconic venues all over Australia, we’re going to see more couples continue to find those hidden gems to tie the knot and bring that unconventional edge to their big day. Whether you’re seeking an epic and different backdrop for your wedding photos or want to change up the ambience to something less traditional (like a library, treehouse or rooftop), feel free to play with the endless options out there and get creative.
Probably my favourite thing about some of these projected trends for 2024 is that they are so easy to plan for ahead of time and most of all, they give you a chance to plan a wedding around your one-of-a-kind story, personality and curiosities. No more rigid trends that keep you following the same style as everyone else - this is YOUR day so make it YOURS.
